Fwd: 1st yr growing from seed, questions...

I had a similar growth last year on my tomato, pepper and marigold plants
despite a constant flow of air using a fan. The growth never seemed to make it
to the seed starter mix. I thought at one point it was some type of mineral
deposit from the tap water I was using as we do have fairly hard water,
however, portions of it did turn greenish like algae. I didn't notice any
problems even after transplanting to larger pots. I even peeled some of the
peat pots off instead of planting pot and all as I usually do just in case but
both groups did fine. I would recommend a fan if you don't already use one. I
used one last year and for the first time I had no cases of "damping off".

good luck
Henry

This is the first year I'm attempting to create transplants for tomato, pepper
and other plants. I recently purchased a grow mat, peat pots and a plastic
tray. I then planted seeds, watered everything down and covered in saran
wrap. All this went fine and the plants are just starting to emerge. I have
been removing the emerged plants from the grow mat and noticed a green / white
mildew on the outside of the peat pots. My question is should I be concerned?
I'm guessing the heat and the moisture created this, but do not know for
sure...
