Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
As this is our first year at real gardening, I am a neophyte when it comes
to trying to have a successful garden. One of the elements that I know
plants need is water, and was wondering if anyone would be so kind as to
share your ideas and suggestions about relatively low cost, automated
watering.
This is the situation: We have three beds in our backyard, 2 of them are
24'X4' and the other bed is 16'X4'. I would like to install some sort of
soaker hose or tape or some apparatus that would allow us to water the
plants automatically. Cost is a major factor here, and so we can't afford
to have a contractor run PVC pipe and fittings and set up an automated
sprinkler system. I went to Home Depot tonight, and saw some soaker hose.
Can I run it down the middle of my 4' beds? How deep should I bury it? How
do I know how many gallons/minute is coming out of the hose? I have many
questions, and appreciate any and all advice. Thanks in advance, and please
