They are white plastic thingies that snap into a ring (@1ft high) they are
designed to go around your rose bushes in the winter and be filled with mulch
to protect them from freezing..if you only use 1 collar it make a ring @8"
wide..just enough to surround the canes of a rose bush..when I make the wide
rings for the potatoes I just snap 2 of them together..then when I set up the
higher level I can easily wedge the next ones inside the first since they are
quite flexible(but sturdy)
