Garter snakes

I have handled many garter snakes in my lifetime (65 years) and my own
experience with them is that they are harmless.
They are NOT poisonous.
They will bite if cornered and are afraid but you really can't feel the
bite.
Their teeth are so small they cannot even break the skin.
