Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html Kim Welcome to the list. I also garden in VA and use metal "cylinders" for my raised beds. I make these about two feet "tall" because my wife hates the red clay earth we are blessed with and she has back trouble. The best for sqft use are 64" in diameter. These are actually a "recycled " byproduct of the underground storage tank laws. They are generally 7 gauge metal (about 3/16") and weigh over 100 lb. apiece. They are a little over 22 sq. ft each and should last forever. I paint them green after I grind the metal to avoid sharp edgesand fill them with composted manure/sawdust. I may have a couple of them if you are interested. A pickup truck would hold three or four. I live in Culpeper.
