Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
Hello All,
Ok, I have bought my potato sets. I picked up a cooking potato called
Red LaSoda and a baking potato called White Rose. Now what do I do? If
I understand correctly I cut the 8 small potatoes I have in half so that
each half has a good growing eye on it, then I let the cut side dry for
a day or two. I then put them in the trash can with the cut side down
on a very good bed of about a foot and a half of growing mixture and
cover with about 6 ins(?) of good soil. As the potato plants get to be
about a foot tall I cover all but the very top(maybe 3 or 4 ins) with a
straw and soil mixture. And continue to do this until I reach the top
of the trash can. Then just let them grow until the plant dies back,
then I get to dump the can and pick out the potatoes. Do I understand
correctly?? Please get back to me as I want to get them started this
week. Thank you, Debbie
