P.S. The U.S. Department of Agriculture [my employer] is in fine shape
Y2K-wise, and the U.S. food chain is unaffected by the date-management
business. The Animal and Plant Heath Inspection Service's only problem is
that a T-1 phone line going into our Mexico City office is somehow
Y2K-messed up. APHIS spent about $19 million fixing all its systems and
equipment problems so business could go on as usual through the holiday
weekend and beyond.
