Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
Doreen,
The Farmer's Market is even better than you have heard. I go as often as I
can and as early as I can.
We can't take a firm stand on our zone because Mother Nature keeps changing
her mind. I guess most of us consider that we are in Zone 4 but still
optimistically plant within Zone 5 and cover those tender plantings with
lots of mulch. My gardens are pretty protected from wind. We are much warmer
here than one mile out on our family farm. I may well be in 5 while our
farmland is in 4. You just have to experiment and find out for yourself. .
.which isn't, I don't think, much different than anywhere else. Planting
dates vary, but I usually start out about a week or two before Memorial Day.
I think the last frost date is May 10. First frost is somewhere around Oct.
1. But, this year and last year, I was still harvesting at Halloween. I
still had cabbage at Thanksgiving.
But, again, the Farmer's Market. . .it almost makes the winter worthwhile.
Linda, dreaming of baby plants, green veggies, fresh bouquets and spring. .
