Square Foot Gardening List - http://myweb.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
You may remember I have been whining about our lack of rainfall and drought
conditions here in NW FL. Well we had several inches of rain two weeks ago
and of course I was out of town! I came back to 6 very sick looking cucumber
plants. The first pair had what looked like mildew all over them. I
immediately tore them out. Everything that was green was actually blue/white
and every other part of the plant was brown and cracked looking. The next
pair had brown leaves most of the way up and all the fruit had wilted except
for a couple of cukes on the bottom. Took those out too. The last pair is
still in but I don't know if I should keep messing with them. Bottom leaves
are yellow. There are many small cukes which appear to have stopped growing.
There is however new growth at the top with new cukes (female) flowers.
These were all nursery bought transplants and I had the pairs in separate
beds ( a happy accident). I also just bought some seeds (Cucumber Tamra , and
'Marketmore 76) to try a fall harvest.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Laura in Pensacola
