I really like you comment in regard to treated wood.
I've always wondered how anyone could eat enough veggies planted near the treated wood to be dangerous. Especially when you eat plenty of commercial food that is supposed to contain carcinogens such as bacon.

But I am considering using cement blocks for a couple reasons -- I have quite a few of the extra deep ones and someone commented they keep the ground warmer. My back yard is several feet lower than my front yard which means it is also cooler back there where my garden is.

Since my blocks are deeper/thicker, the holes are bigger than the usual cement blocks people use. Could other things besides flowers be planted in the holes such as cabbage or peppers?
