I've been offline for 2 days, so beg pardon if this reply mirrors what
others have said.
It's my understanding that ordinary DE is what's right for in-garden use,
not the more finely milled DE that is sold for use in swimming pool water
filters. What you want in the garden is lots of coarse, jagged edges
because DE kills soft-bodied pests when they walk/slither over it.
