Re: trellised melons

        I tried growing melons in a concrete reinforcing wire column with
nylon net support for the fruit.  It was too heavy to be grown vertically.
Maybe Doreen's suggestion for the use of panty hose would work better.  This
year my cantaloupe plants are on an incline plane of quarter inch wire
attached to 1X4's that are set in the ground at an approximate 60 degree
angle.  When I harvest my potato crop around the 4th of July and have more
space, I plan to lower the melon platform so that it will be just off the
ground and let them do their thing.
