Nickie,
I don't think that Borax will affect anything in your house except the
fleas.  About 20 years ago the townhouse I lived in became infested with
roaches.  I used 20 Mule Team Borax in every drawer and cupboard in the
kitchen.  I had the only townhouse without a problem after that!!
Apparently the worst that could happen if someone actually ate it is a good
case of diarrhea.  We don't get sand fleas here so I don't know if it will
work with them.
