Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
Hello List,
I know that many of you have strong feelings toward "Americas master
gardener" but I would like to share a recipe for a (I think)safe yet
seemingly effective insecticide that was passed on to me from another list.
Finished formula consists of the following:
8oz lemon dish soap or baby shampoo
8oz mint mouthwash
8oz tobacco juice
8oz water
Take 1.5 oz of finished formula to 1 gallon water to make spray.
I have killed wasps, ants, chiggers, aphids etc. Supposedly it is effective
against virtually all above ground pests with the possible exception of
cabbage maggots and cabbage loopers. Also I'm told it is safe to use
everyday if needed during periods of heavy infestation. To make the tobacco
juice simmer 1/3 oz chewing tobacco in sauce pan of water until dark then
blend with water to make 1 gallon sieving out the leaves.
Does anyone question the safety of this product?, IMHO it is very effective
so that is not the question at least for me, also because of the mouthwash
(I think)it is also touted to be an excellent fungicide. Any and all
opinions would be welcome.
Charlie
