Hello friends- Have been busy building
trellis's and arbors. A new trio of Ernest Markham (magenta red), C.W. Dowman
(Pink?), and Etiole Violette (purple!) reside at the base of our new trellis
in the backyard. Of course we could not just plant clematis... we had to
have a host of companion plantings as well. Purpurea Plena Elegans is the
first clematis to roost under the new arbor soon to be followed by other
clematis and perennials. Our previously planted Polish Spirit and Tangutica are
growing up their trellis nicely. Many shrubs, trees and perennials died
from the unusually dry winter here in Edmonton, Alberta area.
The sqfting beds are planted and growing nicely. We
waited until after June 1st before planting the tenders becuase of the danger of
frost. It seems to have paid off - even the cucs and beans are sprouting
nicely. Should be able to begin harvesting lettuce for daily salads soon.
Nearly finished our bathroom renovations too. Looking
forward to enjoying the summer. Intend to install more flagstone path through
the garden this summer.
How about your garden?
