'The Book' says to plant for 1 per sqft. But Mel wrote an article in the Feb
96 OG and said it could be grown 4 per sqft. I tried corn for the first time
this year and I planted them 4 per sqft. It was a dwarf variety (Hookers
Heirloom) and that grew to about 5 ft. I harvested them about three weeks ago
and I only had one cob that was fully pollinated. The others were about half.
So I planted a second crop with a modified spacing. I took an 18"x18" square
and planted four seeds. This is in between the spacing which is in the book
and the update which Mel gave in the Feb 96 article. I won't know the results
for a couple of months but I'll let the list know how it goes.
Anybody else have some input on this spacing issue?
