Gardens Alive! sells a pre-emergent called A-Maize-ing something or other that is made from corn for use on the lawn. But even this product will kill clover seedlings. Some varieties of clover are perennial (like White Dutch), so if you use a perennial variety and time sowing the seeds for after the pre-emergent wears off, you should get some clover growing and still be able to control the broad leaf weeds somewhat. I think we can all agree that it would be wonderful to have a "gentle" weed killer that targeted only the plants we dislike. >question: Is there a gentle weed killer that spares clover? How can I >encourage clover? Any advice on lawn care would be appreciated. I >would like to avoid residual toxic chemicals if possible. -Vivian Viverito Atlanta, GA Zone 7b *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe, send to: listserv@umslvma.umsl.edu the body message: unsubscribe sqft See http://www.umsl.edu/~silvest/garden/sqft.html for archive, FAQ and more.
