On the Subject of Encouraging Clover... I have a beautiful path of clover leading from my car to my home, I believe, because I've consistently made the turfgrass management mistake of cutting the path a bit lower than the rest of my areas to make it neater. It seems that the relatively more severe cutting discourages the lawn-type grasses, etc. and allows for the clover to thrive. This is a path I have won from nettles, burdock, and wild grass, and I've never seeded turfgrass, fertilized, or sprayed for weeds. Just consistently mowed. Other factors are sure to be at play (this is my sunniest spot), but the lesson seems to be, ceteris paribus: "mow low." ~:-) MDA Michael Anderson Spring Green, Wisconsin (Zone 4)
