hilling potatoes

This year I'd like to hill my potatoes with grass clippings instead of dirt.
Anyone have experience doing such a thing? I am growing Red Norland, Yukon
Gold, and Yellow Finn. How close does the grass need to be to the plant to
get potatoes? Should every nook and cranny be filled within the plant or is
just piling the grass up around the plant enough?

About grass clippings as mulch. I've been told many times that grass
clippings are a great mulch. But . . . will I be seeding my garden with grass
for next year?

Thank you,
Lorrie
