Hi Dave: I have two square foot gardens and I made a small removable fence (about to feet high) around both of them. I use lattice with chicken wire stapled to it. You're right...the critters really appreciate the garden. Rabbits and skunks love my beans, lettuce, spinach, and beets. The skunk did not love my German Shepherd, however...another story.
