Not with dutch yellow shallots, but various onions and leeks and chives
will flower and seed. My onions are growing wild as are my chives.
In fact, I heard that onion sets are heat treated to prevent flowering.
Seems that the flower is contained inside the onion from the beginning and
can be cooked without hurting the onion.
