My sister's husband started his first compost pile in his backyard, when he
lived in a townhouse.... the yard was so small, that he clipped the grass
with scissors!!  (I am not kidding!)  Since there were no complaints from
the neighbors, or my sister, who is somewhat squeamish, he is my guru of
compost.  He highly recommends the book  _Let it Rot_  (I don't remember
the author, but how many with that title are out there?)  This book is
available at the library at our (very small town) local community college,
but alas, when I went to get it last week, I found the library is closed
for remodelling for a month!  Thwarted again!!

garden, which is currently three feet deep in weeds, and the site of the
same husband's burn pile for burning brush...
