Hi Kim in sunny so cal,

This year we planted "Sugar Snap Pole" peas. They were purchased
from:

     Halifax Seed
     PO Box 8026
     Halifax, NS Canada B3k 5L8.

Don't have an address in the Excited States for you - sorry. They
germinated in four days and seem very vigorous growers. They are
described:

"Representing a new generation of garden peas, Sugar Snap is a
winner of the prestigious All America Selections Gold Medal. Crisp,
crunch, and delicious, it's eaten whole in pods and peas - when the pods
are plump (nail hole here). Serve fresh in salads, with dip, stir fried
or steamed. Good for freezing. Grows best in cool weather."

That last caveat seems to have meaning for you. Cool weather in
Southern California? I dunno - maybe you could try shading them. They
appear to have fatter pods at picking time than the regular, flat snow
pea. Good luck.
