You know- it is just my opinion, but Rodale has been
going down the tubes for awhile now. Paricularily with
Organic Gardening Magazine. When Mike McGrath was the
Editor in Chief, he had made the Magazine
entertaining, readable and friendly, when you consider
a somttime dry topic. He left and boy they went to the
old way and got out of it soon. 

As far as the normal contract- well writers leave
publishers all the time. Best of luck to Mel in this- 
And I believe Dave Letterman proved the "Intelectual
Property" thing when NBC was going to sue over the Top
Ten List when he went to CBS- that a corporation does
not own Intellectual Property.
