Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
Well, for those who might remember that I planted corn too late in the year
last year and wintered it over by covering the SFG frame with clear plastic
-- it seems to have worked! I decanted the corn yesterday and planted some
more in the empty spots. Looks like two ears on most of the Silver Queens,
plus some of the suckers are producing as well. The main drawback seems to
be that they aren't as sturdy as I'd think, probably for the same reasons
that some of your seedlings are leggy. They didn't have to fight off the
wind all winter and perhaps aren't as deeply rooted as they would have been
had they been grown in season. They grew slowly over the winter, but
persistently. I'm going to plant every couple of weeks up to the 64 per 4x4
that Mel recommends.
It was ugly, but it seems to have worked. Now to fight off the crows.
