We use straws at our school gardens.  We have 3' X 3' boxes.  It takes about 
4 straws for each row.  The straws are inserted into each other.  The ends 
are stapled to our wooden frames.  They work great for a year.  Then the next 
class makes the dividers.

Our theme square foot gardens were featured in The National Growing 
Association's Growing Ideas Newsletter for Jan 2000.
