In my mind I was picturing something about 8-12 inches deep.  Should I
be thinking more like 2 feet deep?

That sounds like a chart I should look at also.  Ideally I'd like to
grow onions, bell peppers, cucumbers, lettuce, and all my favorites.

I know I'll need some kind of trellis affair for the cukes, but I
haven't quite planned that far ahead yet.

Thanks for the response.  At least I know I'm not totally insane for
coming up with this idea.
