Rebbecca's Garden has some good ideas for growing potatoes as does the
orgainc gardeninc forum. - . About those yuppie priced whiskey barrels- have
found that you can purchase wonderful oak wine barrels for $15 each(per
half) directly from the wineries and just a bit more from the local(small)
hardware or nurseries that are really near them. If in the Sacramento Valley
or Amador County-(Northern CA) Try Tru Value Hardware in Pleasant Valley or
Amador Flower Farm. I paid $19 and they are huge and gorgeous. I also got
several right at the wineries-for a few doll rs less but had to drive a lot
farther and had to drill the drain holes my self.. I am hoping that these
will make my container gardening on the patio more athetically pleasing as
well as be large enough to include some flowers and herbs in the mix and
keep me from having things dry out so darned fast. Beats the heck out of the
dinky cedar things at Home depot that sell for $40.Just my 2 cents. If your'e
into barrels -it's an alternative source.-Good Luck-Teri
