Old time practices [was Re: Burpee Seeds...]

Been lurking since I joined this list, but noticed this post.

I do (sometimes) plant by the moon phase. Indeed, I need to get a copy
of the Old Farmer's Almanac for this year. My parents never have done
this in their gardening, but Mom told me that her father did the exact
same practice with the potatoes. Planted on Good Friday, and since that
was up in North Dakota, I bet he had to scrape away the snow in many a
year.
