Hi y'all! My name is Roland and yes, I'm the one that's trying to grow some luffa this year in Texas! I would like to say that of all the list and newsgroups I've been part of, this is by far the friendliest. I'm glad to be such esteemed and helpful company! I have only started gardening last year as I only got my first garden when I bought 2 acres and built my first house. 1 acre I'm leaving 'au naturale'(blackland prairie) and the other acre wildflower pasture and garden. Having been raised by a family of gardeners in Singapore, it was a real challenge for me to garden in black clay and z8 in Texas. My passions are tropicals(in the house), fragrant flowering plants, orchids, flowering trees, grasses, bamboos and of course oriental fruits and veges! I have 120' of raised beds around the house and a 5' x 32' one for my veges. I also have a 8 mth old rottweiler puppy(which makes gardening even more of challenge). My horticultural ambitions for '97 are to add a greenhouse, a pond and of course more trees and plants!!I'm not very experienced in gardening but I'm learning fast..thanks to this group.
