I have found that cucumber beetles prefer pigweed to any of the
cucurbits. I make a point of not cleaning out most of my pigweed and use
it as a trap crop, zapping the beetles there before they ever get to the
cukes etc. Since pigweed does not attract bees you may use some pretty
heavy duty stuff on them to zap the cucumber beetles.
