I have a similar situation to James' in that my garden is app. 6' X 20' on the northside of the house, and is bordered north and west by a 5' high wire fence with rectangular spacing of a couple inches. My thoughts on how I am planning on setting this up is to make 4 unlined raised beds each appr. 3' X 10' and use the fencing to support things like peas, tomatoes, cucumbers, and even cantelope (yes I know NOT to put these two together :-)) supporting the fruits with old nylons (great tip I picked up here). I also don't have the suggested 4' X 4' spacing suggested by Mel so am planning on making slight adjustments by perhaps leaving out one square foot from the plans...does this sound feasible to you more experienced members? Also would really like to put in a small amount of sweet corn and thought the bed closest to the fence on the north would keep the corn from shading the other plants too much, but is 3' wide going to give enough space to pollinate the corn sufficiently?. I've read that there should be 4 rows to pollinate well. Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome. TIA Cheralyn
