PVC tomato cages - Mother Earth News

Yes, I just got that issue yesterday and read the piece about these
cages! It looks like a nice idea; however, I would not use the same
height they referenced. In my experience, 3'3" is not nearly high
enough for a tomato cage, either for indeterminate *or* determinate
vines! Actually, I am going to modify this plan, I think, because I
tend to have several tomato plants in a row generally. I don't want
to build separate structures for each plant, so I want to work up a
similar plan that will incorporate the ideas presented and which will
support multiple plants.

Another concern I have with the structures presented is that I don't
think -- not sure yet since I haven't built it -- it would stand up
to the strong winds we have here. I need something that is anchored
a bit better, so I would need something a bit heavier. I think that
a structure supporting several plants would accomplish this.
