Neem

We bought and used Neem the first year it was introduced.  We used it on
several different types of plants.  All of the plants suffered damage.  This
was years ago and I can't remember exactly what happened anymore.  Did
anything like this happen to anybody else?  Should I give Neem another try?
 Is it  a lot safer than insecticides?
We always read the labels and use products like Neem only on plants that are
said to be OK on the lable.
