Hi Dot, > My new cucumber seedlings (still indoors) have what I think might be powdery > mildew. At least it looks somewhat like it in the pictures that I have > seen. TIA, Dot > Dot Geib > in Pitt Meadows BC Canada > now with cloudy but mild temperatures, but more rain on it's way! This was just posted on the Organic Gardening Mailing List: -- >From ebanderson@UALR.EDU Tue, 25 Mar 1997 13:05:25 -0600 To: Multiple recipients of list OGL <OGL@LSV.UKY.EDU> Subject: Powdery mildew Date: Tue, 25 Mar 97 12:05:00 I used the epsom salts in water (gosh--1 TB per gallon, maybe?) recipe last year that several people here posted, as a topical spray on my cantaloupe. First year I ever got a crop to maturity! I'm calling it a winner. Be sure and start in on 'em when they're young. I did it once a week or so. I left out the horticultural oil after looking at the labels on the oil my feed store had available to buy. I don't know what kind of organic products are available, or what substitutions might be made, but mine worked fine without oil. Eileen ebanderson@ualr.edu -- Haven't tried it myself but I certainly have had experience with powdery mildew and grey molds ... tried Safers Fungicidal Sulphur without much avail, so I'm going to try this one next time.
