Re: Baby Corn

Dear Chris,

You might want to try the short season corn that many of US here need to plant. Mel Bartholomew, who wrote the book_Square Foot Gardening_originally recommended that you plant one corn per sq foot(16 in a 4'x4' sq). Recently wrote an article in _Organic Gardening_in which he recommended planting (in a well composted and rich soil) four corn seeds per foot (64 to the 4'x4' sq.) I used this new method last year and was very pleased with the production of my Indian Corn. I will again use the intense method. I also placed four 1/2"x 6' reinforcing rods (rebar) in each corner of the 4'x4' sq and fenced the sq off with chicken wire to keep my Eng Spaniel pup out and for added support for the corn.

If you need names and seed suppliers for the short season corn e-mail me privately.

Love and light,
