I use just the plain "hoop house" using cheap plastic film. I tried
using 2-mil, but it was just too thin and ripped too easily. The 4-mil
was much better, but would deteriote before the second season was
finished. The 6-mil works great. I get four uses out of it, ie spring
and fall for 2 years. The clear plastic lasts through 2 year, the black
through 1 becasue it stays on the gardne the whole year. Because the
"clear" plastic isn't, I don't know how much light penetration you would
get. I find that here in Texas, I have to uncover the ends of the
tunnels around the end of March because the tunnels get too warm even
with slits cut in for ventiliation. Come April, the tunnels are really
just hail insurance, because the 6-mil plastic will withstand a fairly
heavy hail storm.
