I asked about onions a few months ago and got a lot of recommendations
to try Walla Wallas. Some of my seed catalogs also seemed to indicate
they were the sweet onions I should try here in Northern Virginia, so I
planned to order sets.
Yesterday I walked into a local garden store and saw seed for
Granex--the Vidalia onions on the shelf. From what I know, seed
companies send only seed types that will grow in that locality to
stores. Does this mean I CAN grow the Vidalia types around here? Please,
anyone in the mid-Atlantic or Zone 7 in general who has tried, let me
know, right now I'm probably going to waffle and order some of each
kind!
I am going to hopefully have plenty of space for flowers this year. Can
anyone give me some spacing recommendations? I am going to plant
gladiola bulbs, and I'd like to plant other flowers for cutting too.
Thanks!
