Re: Tomatoes

Hey Dara!
Whereabouts in NC are you? We live in Greenville SC. My wife, three
teenagers, and I love to go camping up near Brevard and we are crazy
about the Pisgah National Forest. If you live up that way, lucky you!!!
8-)

Hope your tomato growing goes well for you. In this part of zone 7 our
tomatoes have grown well. This year I'm trying my first heirlooms, though
I'm planting Celebrities also as a back-up. We can a lot of tomatoes and
salsa, and I didn't want to take the risk of having too few tomatoes to
can by planting only non-disease resistant varieties. I don't really know
if we'll have problems with diseases or not since this is my first try at
OP varieties.

Thanks to a kind member of this list, we have some interesting varities
to sample this year, not only of tomatoes, but also hot peppers. I keep
looking at my cold frame each day to see what has come up. We've had a
recent cold snap that has slowed the germination down, but today we're
looking at upper 70s, and tomorrow 80.

(I've posted this to the whole list since I thought that this would be of
interest to more than just Dara.)

Happy gardening!
Rob
