When & what to plant in Oregon?

Hi,
    Does anyone have any ideas as to what type of vegetables to plant
and when to plant in my area, Salem, Oregon? Any suggestions as to
planting seeds inside to transplant into our tiny raised bed square
foot garden later this spring? We have a very tiny back yard and only
have 4 raised beds that are 4 foot by 4 foot each. We would like to
grow such things as tomatoes, Swiss chard, squash .... anything that
is highly productive in a little area. Last year was our first year
and we got a very late start. We did grow some Early girl tomatoes,
and some zucchini and had good success at those. Tried some spinach
but had not success at all with that. tried a very Swiss chard and was
quite pleased with those, until the aphids got to it. We are thinking
about planting some seeds and growing them indoors to start with and
later transplanting, as well as planting some seeds directing out in
the garden. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I'm not sure, but
I think that I'm in zone 8.
