Leaves (used as a mulch or incorporated into compost or dug into the soil)
in general are a Good Thing. Rose leaves however can harbor rose diseases,
so it's generally recommended that you remove all rose litter from your
rose beds on a continuous basis and especially after pruning so as to avoid
repeated rose disease infestations (specifically Black Spot and Powdery
Mildew).

Most rose growers will not even compost their rose trimmings, but other
rose growers do compost their trimmings and say that when "well composted"
they have no negative effects on the garden.

ObSqFt: A typical Hybrid Tea Rose take about the same spacing as a Zucchini.
