As already pointed out, lady bugs are great for ridding yourself of aphids.

If you  do decide to go the insecticidal soap route, one thing to remember
is aphids are born pregnant.  That means they may have the opportunity to
lay eggs (and have already done so) by the time you spray them.  If you
choose this route, spray every 7 - 10 days for 4 or 5 times.  That will get
your current crop of lady bugs and all their descendents.  This applies no
matter what kind of spray you use.
