I had already pretty much decided to leave our little white squash plant alone and see what happened. I too felt like it might not survive without any green (don't plants need chlorophyll?), but thought if it survives it might be interesting to observe and see if there are any differences between it and its brothers and sisters. Well, it has wilted considerably since I posted the original message. I don't think it is going to make it. There are no pests bothering it and it has a mate in the same hole that is doing fine (we planted two in every hole to ensure germination and pull the weaker looking one). Anyway, I think it is dying. It's only an inch tall or so and all of the others are getting much bigger much faster. This one is all curled up on itself as of this morning and feels very limp. Sorry to disappoint... I was rather hoping it would make it myself and was even willing to pull up its healthier looking brother just for experimental purposes (we have more white squash planted so one plant wouldn't make a terrible difference in our harvest). Now I feel very sad that it is dying and I can't save it. I wonder if any of the other seeds in the packet would do the same or if it was just a fluke of mother nature? We got the seeds at a feed store where they sell them by the scoop and they have all been wonderful seeds! Anyway, thought I'd let everyone know what has happened.
