Re: Volck oil?...


To Dennis, Brit, Marjorie, and Toni and anyone else:
Sorry, I guess I was using jargon and didn't know it. I think
that Volck oil is basically horticultural oil. I think it's
primary use is to spray pruned fruit trees in late winter, I'm
not sure. I think the bottle I have is Ortho, and says Volck oil
on it. It is not motor oil!

I think I got it at home depot, but most nurseries and home
stores should carry a version.

Marjorie asked if this would work on aphids, and I'm not sure
as I've never tried it, but it sounds like it would work because
the alcohol dehydrates soft bodied bugs and the oil helps it to
stick long enough to kill them. But you might look back in the
archives for an earlier aphid discussion, because there was a
slightly different recipe for that, I believe, perhaps using
Epsom salts??? Can anyone else help?
