Hi, the ladybugs have saved the day for us so far. I had about given up
on my Ford Hook Limas because the ants put the aphids back faster then I
could blast them off the plants. Then came the ladybugs. In about three
days, the ladybugs had turned the tide. They are everywhere in my garden
now, chomping on aphids and other mundane pests. It is nice to stand
there and watch the little red shells appeare and disappear.I notice the
wasps have almost completely erradicated the cattapilars. In fact, I
havent seen a catapiler in about a week now. My zuccini is about 10
inches long and about two inches wide. They are great. The summer squash
is still producing fruit about every three to four days. We picked our
first pole beans the other day and will probably be picking them
everyday now. I sneaked a couple Ford Hook lima pods today and tasted
them.... yummmy..... one more week....
The corn is doing great... two ears per stalk and they are about ready
to pick.
The pepper plants are just now producing flowers. The melons are
starting to swell. I ate my first cucumber yesterday. hummmmmmm.
The lettues is about ready to crop........ two or three more days I
think. The spinich is nesteled down between the beets and shielded from
the hot sun by the climbing melon plants. Spinich is still producing
okay.
Ladybugs make the difference.
Issiac...
