Due to the HEAVY clay soil here we have ALL raised beds. The 8" might be
sufficient for most crops UNLESS you want to do root crops...just to be sure
I'd go for the 10" as a good average...that way you will be able to rotate
your crops from season to season(that's what we opted for, and had EXCELLENT
results for 3yrs)
