Re[2]: Ants in the compost

     Donna,

In addition to everybody else's advice about keeping moist, etc., I
have found that tossing or stirring once a week at least helps keep
the buggers out of my pile. I don't think it's possible to keep them
away totally or forever, but disturbing their nests regularly keeps
them out of where I don't want them.

     Good luck

There is a colony of ants swarming all over my compost, and when I insert
my rod to aerate the pile they get pretty riled up. So far they have not
gotten on me, and I don't want them to........ What to do?
If I add a layer of horse manure on top will they get out of there?
