Bart,
Sevin won't do much to these chewing pests, but Bt or Bacillus thurenginses
will stop them cold.  Look for it under the brand names of Dipel (in powder
form) or Thuricide in liquid form.  Follow the directions on the package.
This is an accepted "organic" pesticide.
