Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
I keep stock panel here in stacks! It's wonderful stuff! Run is about 16'
long, and you either buy cattle panel or hog panel or combination panel. I
try to get the combination. Cattle panel are about 4 1/2 - 5'tall with 6"
squares from top to bottom. Plenty big enough for trellising most any
plant. Hog panel is only 3 1/2 foot tall, but has the same number of cross
bars, so the lower gaps between are much smaller. (Keeps baby pigs inside).
they are galvanized steel, welded at all the seams, and very durable. I
have bucks that can pop the welds but they have to work at it. No, they
aren't pretty, (dull gray) but it doesn't take long for a plant to cover
them up. if you're not saving the plant, just take a little propane torch
and burn them off the panels when first frost hits them, or they're
finished producing.
You can bend one panel into a U shape, put 4 posts at the corners and have
a nifty 'instant' arbor.
It takes bolt cutters to cut one, and then you'd want to file the points
down so you don't cut yourself every time you touch it. (I'm always
crawling over them, or using them for temporary gates.) They run about $13
per panel, and are a great garden investment. The hardest part is getting
them home! Lowe's, Payless Cashway, Home Depot, Furrows, or most any big
hardware center carries them.
