I'm thinking about installing a soaker or drip irrigation system in my garden. I've got 8 2x8 beds, two fruit trees and the areas (ground cover) arround the trees that all need to be addressed. I've been looking into the soaker type irrigation because it seemed to fit my square foot garden better than a drip system. I just wanted to ask if any of you have done this. 

I've got some specific questions about the soaker hoses. Since my beds are 2x8 I should be able to run one hose down the center and water the entire bed. Literatrue says that the hose will water 12"-16" on either side. Is this true?
